WHAT IS PASSIVATION?

The passivation process often comes after a first step of pickling.

This chemical process improves the corrosion resistance properties by recreating in a controlled way the oxide layer called "passive layer" previously stripped. Thus, its homogeneity and thickness develop more rapidly than with natural passivation. Moreover, our passivation products can be combined with our treatment lines.

The passivator chosen will depend on the type of material being treated and the requirements of the product to be used. For passivation of austenitic stainless steels, the passivator Aupus 967 A, conforming to ASTM A967 and RCCM F6000 standards, is preferred for its effectiveness in increasing corrosion resistance. Moreover, the associated treatment time is also very fast.

Mainly used for martensitic stainless steels, AUPUS 967 AM passivator, conforming to ASTM A967 standard, does not generate nitrous vapors and allows a good corrosion resistance.
